About this Recipe
An upside-down cake is a cake that is baked in a single pan upside- down,; with the toppings at the bottom. When the finished upside- down preparation is removed from the oven, it is flipped over and de-panned onto a serving plate, righting it and serving it right-side up. Before the batter is poured in, chopped or sliced fruits such as apples, cherries, peaches, or pineapples, butter, and sugar are usually placed on the bottom of the pan, forming a baked-on topping after the cake is inverted. You can use a basic cottage pudding cake batter.
Why do they call it upside down cake?
This straightforward cake is made by pouring cake batter over Apple or pineapple, brown sugar, and butter in a skillet. Nuts and maraschino cherries are occasionally added. After baking, it is flipped onto a platter so that the bottom becomes the top. As a result, the term upside down was coined. Ingredient for Apple Upside Down Cake
Apples - 3 medium size Sugar - 2 tblspn Lemon Juice - ½ tsp
Sugar - ½ cup to ¾ cup Water - 3 tblspn Butter - 2 tblspn
Apple:Most apples are slightly sweet and slightly tart, but neither flavour dominates. Some of these apples will have a mild flavour, while others will have a strong flavour. That, as is customary, is dependent on the weather and harvest conditions. Baking PowderBaking powder is used to increase the volume of baked goods and lighten their texture. It works by releasing carbon dioxide gas into batter or dough via an acid–base reaction, which causes bubbles in the wet mixture to expand and thus leaven the mixture. In place of apples, you can go with pineapples, pears, plums, peaches, strawberries, mangoes or any fruit you like.
